This past weekend, local attorney Bill Ciancaglini withdrew from the race for the Democratic nomination for the 184th State House District and endorsed longtime community organizer Jonathan “JR” Rowan.
“Bill’s endorsement is important to me and will help me build support across South Philadelphia for my campaign,” said Rowan. “Harrisburg can be a tough place, especially for a Democrat, and we need a fighter with experience who can bring back the resources our communities need starting on day one.”
JR kicked off his campaign this past weekend by canvassing several South Philadelphia neighborhoods. He also launched a campaign Facebook page (www.facebook.com/JRforSouthPhilly) and website (www.jrforsouthphilly.com), and will be opening a campaign office in coming weeks.
JR is a lifelong resident of South Philadelphia and has served our community for 20 years in the district offices of two state senators. He has also been involved locally as a coach at EOM Athletic Association, youth sports organizer, board member of Victims Witness Services of South Philadelphia, honorary board member of the South Philadelphia Civic Association, and Democratic Executive Committee Representative.
