The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO this week announced their endorsement of South Philly native Jonathan J.R. Rowan’s campaign for state representative.
“The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO is proud to endorse Jonathan ‘JR’ Rowan in the 184th State House District,” said Pennsylvania AFL-CIO President Rick Bloomingdale. “We know that J.R. is committed to helping the working families of South Philadelphia and will fight for economic opportunities for all his constituents. If elected, J.R. will be a great advocate for his community and working people.”
The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO represents roughly 900,000 working men and women from dozens of labor organizations across the state.
Rowan’s campaign has also been endorsed by Councilman Mark Squilla, Senator Larry Farnese, IAFF Local 22, FOP Lodge 5, and CWA District 2-13, Locals 13,000, 13,301 & 13,500.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Pennsylvania AFL-CIO and grateful for the recommendation that President Pat Eiding and the Philadelphia AFL-CIO provided,” said Rowan. “I will fight for working families in Harrisburg, work to increase the minimum wage to $15, protect collective bargaining, and work with the Philadelphia delegation to continue to develop and invest in our ports.”
JR is a lifelong resident of South Philadelphia and has served our community for 20 years in the district offices of two state senators. He has also been involved locally as a coach at EOM Athletic Association, youth sports organizer, board member of Victims Witness Services of South Philadelphia, honorary board member of the South Philadelphia Civic Association, and Democratic Executive Committee Representative.
